Year-round, I work with clients to make healthy choices to lose weight and feel their best. When Holidays roll around, I often provide meal and dessert substitutions, “swaps” and inspiration for food choices in alignment with their goals… But this year, more than any other year, I have been encouraging my clients to simply indulge…
Why, may you ask?
As friends and families gather together, food shared is symbolic of the abundance available to enjoy and celebrate. It is a holiday where we work hard in the kitchen to prepare delicious foods and desserts, with the goal to share it in an honorable way; giving thanks for the blessings of the food as nourishment and for all we have received throughout the year.
The idea of abundance, plentifulness and harvest should give us a feeling of being satisfied, peaceful, and full of joy and gratitude. If you are present and allow yourself to truly connect and feel these emotions, you can more easily expand your heart, allowing you to have a greater connection to self and others.
When we deprive ourselves or focus on what we don’t have or can’t have, it only create a “lack-of” mentality. This type of mentality makes us feel emptiness, negative thoughts and ultimately our heart closes and prevents us from receiving, in other ways. To honor and celebrate having “enough” or even “more than enough” signals a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. . . This mentality of enjoying the day and “allowing” yourself the joy of indulging, is actually an amazing way to STAY ON TRACK in the long-run.
Enjoy cooking foods, spending time with loved ones, and really taking time to let what the actual day represents FILL YOU UP! …As you give to others, give thanks for all you receive, and simply live in a state of joy and gratitude throughout the day, you will truly tap into the spirit of what this season is all about…
The more grateful you are- the more you share- the more you celebrate and honor all the blessings of your life, the more you will ultimately have!
In my humble Balanced Beauty opinion, being RICH is a state of mind and HAPPINESS and TIME are the most valuable commodities in our life. Thanksgiving, while delicious, is about taking the time to reflect and celebrate just how blessed we all are to be alive!
