Turmeric- A Powerful Natural Remedy

Turmeric, SpiceYour body is sacred.

Everything you put into your body is directly absorbed by your cells, bloodstream, and has a direct correlation to how you look and feel.

BALANCED BEAUTY TIP: FOOD= ENERGY & FOODS=HEALING!!!

When you fuel your body properly, it will enable you to have stable energy, mood, weight and have the focus needed to live life to the fullest! Most of you know the proper foods to eat for fuel, so today I want to introduce you to a SPICE that you should incorporate into your diet.

Spices and herbs have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes and holistic healing. TURMERIC is one of my favorite, magical spices because it does SO MANY amazing things for your body.

Here are a few examples:

  • Boosts Mood
  • Natural anti-inflammatory/pain reliever
  • Natural antibiotic and antiseptic
  • Speeds up the healing of wounds
  • Anti-aging/Youthful glow
  • Improves digestion and helps prevent gas and bloating
  • Natural blood purifier
  • Natural skin tonic and aids in improving skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema
  • Slows progression of MS and helps prevent progression of Alzheimer
  • Lowers cholesterol and helps heal stomach ulcers
  • Helps prevent cancer such as breast, prostate, skin, colon, lymphoma and leukemia and can also reduce side effects of chemotherapy
  • Aids in fat metabolism and weight management

How do you incorporate into your diet, you may ask?…

Here are my TOP Balanced Beauty recommendations:

Turmeric-Smoothie-low-res-3-of-5-550x426

Sprinkle into a smoothie: This is especially great post-workout, as its anti-inflammatory properties will help with recovery. Pair with a banana to get maximum muscle recovery and to hide the taste. A banana is the perfect base to any smoothie…especially to hide greens or pungent spices.

Turmeric-Roasted-Chickpeas-Recipe

Roasted Chickpeas: One of my favorite snacks is draining chickpeas, sprinkling my favorite spices and baking in the oven. Turmeric works well with curry powder, garlic, onion, cayenne, salt, pepper, and dash of cinnamon…A great alternative to chips.

Turmeric Chicken Kabob

Chicken dish/Stir-frys: Add in new spice flavors into your favorite dishes. A little sprinkle goes a long way and can help give you a new flavor profile to work with. This will keep your meals exciting and avoid getting bored with eating the same old thing.

It may sound silly, but when I use spices in my dishes, the little kid in me comes out– I always pretend I am making a magic potion to zap away ailments and create a healing potion. In The Balanced Beauty world, it is important to experiment and HAVE FUN in the kitchen!!! When you cook with love and use high quality, healthy ingredients you will feel great and enjoy each and every dish you create.

Use spices to create new blends and recipes…Proud of a dish? Send it my way and it just may be featured!
